In mid-2003, returning to the media industry, Cohen met with key people in New York and formulated a plan to launch a business that would promote liberal talk radio programming. Sorensen Media Group CEO Rex Sorensen, a Guam media entreprenuer, joined Cohen and created Progress Media Inc. Sorensen was involved in building and creating media platforms in Asia and the United States for over 20 years.
Cohen made his way back to Guam in 2006 and continues to work in the media industry. Cohen is the managing director for Sorensen Media Group and Lotus Media Services. Lotus Media Services is a creative content production house providing content for the Guam market. Cohen is providing media solutions for advertisers, creating television and radio content, and providing media products to both Asia and the U.S. Cohen developed innovative television programs for the Guam market to include “GU MD”, “The Buzz”, and “TimeOut”.
GU MD is a medical television magazine providing a fresh look at the positive stories related to medicine on Guam. GU MD is a 30-minute medical magazine that peers past the health-care headlines to reveal the world of modern medicine that exists on Guam. GU MD shows local consumers and their families a refreshing new perspective of health care as it really exists on Guam – a vibrant, bustling industry rife with current and new technologies and run by credentialed practitioners with high standards of patient care.
The Buzz looks to provide light-hearted “reality show” entertainment for Guam's “tweens” and teens. The light-hearted innovative show delves into the lives of celebrities on Guam. The Buzz also gives insight into the culture of the island through comedy. The program is a mirror of the youth of the community as all the latest styles, fashions, and crazes are also featured.
Sorensen and Cohen are already taking steps to realize the idea of providing television programming products to major markets and partnered with MTV Philippines to create TimeOut for a large under served Filipino-American youth population in Guam. TimeOut provides Philippines entertainment news in a style and exciting way only MTV can.
Cohen is also working to provide radio content to China. Sorensen Media Group provided radio content to Asia markets in the past specifically Japan with Radio I Nagoya and Inter FM Tokyo.
